The Artist I Woody Gooch
Self-taught out of simple curiosity, with a unique talent for capturing the object beyond the obvious. More an observer than a technician, he succeeds in transforming indomitable forces into distinctly smooth and soothing images. It thus virtually creates a relaxing irritation, which encourages the observer to stop and reflect. Gooch achieves this by reducing the complexity of the pattern through a conscious renunciation of obvious and seemingly crucial image elements. Moreover, its distinctive image construction gives structure even to natural or human irrationality through horizontal or diagonal lines, among other geometric figures, which calm the eye. If the young artist is driven by pure instinct, his mental interaction with his motif and his environment is remarkable. Gooch begins to study his surroundings for weeks and months before moving on to photography - or even carrying the camera on him. As a result, his images manifest much more the mood of an exhibition in time - in very sharp images - than a fleeting moment.
La collection I Coloured Lines
Colored lines form the backbone of Woody's work - yet his minimalist approach speaks truth, he always observes lines, shapes, contrasting colors and deep feelings within his composition. This series focuses on each place and its surrounding beauty in a very rich way. Woody lets the viewer daydream and experience their own perspective. These images come from all over the world: Morocco, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii and even in front of his house in Australia.
